Refreshing Fruity Shake

The weather is warming up quite beautifully here in Michigan. It feels like summer may arrive after all! PRAISE THE LORD!!! When it gets hot, my love for cold sweet treats goes WAY up. Thankfully there are so many items to choose from, for those of you who eat the Trim Healthy Mama way! I love a good cold shake or smoothie to keep me cool, and my sweet tooth satisfied all while staying on plan too. Here's a list of my favorite THM shakes, smoothies and cold drinks if you're looking for even more yummy ideas.

Back to my new favorite shake. With summer comes an abundance of local fresh fruit. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!! I created this shake to include some of my favorite summer fruits. Thankfully, I still had some frozen fruit left from last summer, but you can use fresh fruit in this shake too. If you use all fresh fruit, make sure you add some ice cubes. This shake is an E, so it's a great option for those of you who struggle to get in your E meals and snacks. I hope you find this shake as refreshing as I do!

Printable Recipe
Refreshing Fruity Shake (THM: E, low-fat)
  • 1/4 c. 2% cottage cheese
  • 1/2 c. vanilla unsweetened almond milk (if you don't have vanilla flavored milk, just add a dash of vanilla extract)
  • 1/4 c. water
  • (1) scoop of THM Pristine Whey Protein Powder
  • (4) fresh or frozen strawberries
  • (1) medium peach, fresh or frozen
  • (1/2) banana, fresh or frozen
  • 3/4 t. THM Super Sweet Blend
  • 4-6 ice cubes, optional
  1. Put all ingredients into the blender, except for the ice. Blend until completely combined.
  2. Add the ice (if using) and blend until it is smooth.

L - Easy Zucchini Noodles for One topped with 1/2 can of chicken breasts (drained) with strawberries on the side and water to drink (S)
S - (2) Light Rye Wasa Crackers with a wedge of Light Laughing Cow Cheese and Cider Pop to drink (FP)
D - Egg Roll in a Bowl with green beans topped with pat of butter on the side with water to drink (S)

Tuesday:
B - (2) Mufflets with Sweet & Spicy tea to drink (S) pg. 237 in the new THM cookbook ***The Mufflets will feed my family of 6 for two complete breakfasts.
L - Just Like Campbell's Tomato Soup with fresh veggies on the side and water to drink (S) pg. 112 in the new THM cookbook
S - (3) Pay Off Day Candies with Cider Pop to drink (S) pg. 381 in the new THM cookbook
D - Lovin' Tex Mex Skillet with lettuce on the side and water to drink (E) 

Wednesday:
B - (2) leftover Mufflets with a Winter Wonderland Sip to drink (S) pg. 405 in the new THM cookbook
L - Creamless Creamy Chicken with water to drink (FP) pg. 78 in the new THM cookbook. I'm using canned diced chicken breast to save time and money.
S - (3) leftover Pay Off Day Candies with Cider Pop to drink (S)
D - Baked Spaghetti "Zoodle" Casserole with a small side salad dressed with Ranch and water to drink (S)

Thursday:
B - Vanilla Dannon 000 Greek Yogurt with a small sliced apple mixed in with a dash of cinnamon and Sweet & Spicy tea to drink (E)
L - leftover Baked Spaghetti "Zoodle" Casserole with fresh veggies on the side with water to drink (S)
S - (3) leftover Pay Off Day Candies with Cider Pop to drink (S)
D - Jalapeno Chicken Bacon Chowder with water to drink (S)

Friday:
B - Peanut Butter Milkshake (S)
L - Fields of Green Omcake with strawberries on the side with water to drink (S) pg. 240 in the new THM cookbook. I'm omitting the nutritional yeast because I don't have any.
S - (3) leftover Pay Off Day Candies with Cider Pop to drink (S)
D - Pizza Casserole with fresh veggies on the side with Honest Fizz Root Beer to drink (S) pg. 327 in the OLD THM book

Saturday:
B - Vanilla Dannon 000 Greek Yogurt with a small sliced apple mixed in with a dash of cinnamon and water to drink (E)
L - Cheese quesadilla on a low-carb tortilla with lettuce, sour cream and strawberries on the side with Cider Pop to drink (S)
S - small handful of almonds and a cheese stick with water to drink (S)
D - RunAmok Mama's Lime Chicken with Spanish Brown Rice and lettuce on the side with water to drink (E) ***This recipe makes enough for two meals (at 5 servings each) so I am going to cook them both and freeze half for a later meal. By adding the rice on the side I think I can stretch 5 servings to 6 for my family.

Sunday:
B - Cran Orange Smoothie (FP)
L - out 
S - 1/2 Vanilla Dannon 000 Greek Yogurt mixed with 2 T. of peanut butter and strawberries on the side with water to drink (S)
D - leftovers or a salad with hard-boiled eggs on top with water to drink (S)

Monday:
B - Peanut Butter Milkshake (S)
L - Salad with hard-boiled egg and Ranch dressing with water to drink (S)
S - (3) Pay Off Day Candies (S) pg. 381 in the NEW THM Cookbook
D - Taco salad with sour cream, cheddar cheese and Cider Pop to drink (S) ***Use this recipe for your taco seasoning

Tuesday:
B - (2) scrambled eggs and strawberries on the side with Sweet & Spicy tea to drink (S)
L - Loaded Fotato Soup with strawberries on the side with Cider Pop to drink (S) pg. 117 in the NEW THM Cookbook. I like to top my soup with cheddar cheese.
S - (3) leftover Pay Off Day Candies with water to drink (S) 
D - Spaghetti with Meat Sauce with a small side salad and leftover Ranch dressing with water to drink (S) ***I will be using zucchini noodles as my pasta and the rest of my family will be eating whole wheat pasta. 

Wednesday:
B - Thin Mint Shake (S) 
L - leftover Spaghetti with Meat Sauce with fresh veggies on the side and Cider Pop to drink (S)
S - (3) leftover Pay Off Day Candies with water to drink (S)
D - Dirt-E-Rice with water to drink (E)

Thursday:
B - 0% Plain Greek Yogurt mixed with 1 t. THM Super Sweet Blend, an apple and cinnamon with water to drink (E) 
L - leftover Dirt-E-Rice with a small side salad with red wine vinegar and Cider Pop to drink (E)
S - (3) leftover Pay Off Day Candies with water to drink (S)
D - Grilled steak (my kids will eat beef hot dogs) with Easy Zucchini Noodles and buttered green beans with water to drink (S) ***I'm making a double batch of the Easy Zucchini Noodles.

Friday:
B - (2) scrambled eggs and strawberries on the side with Sweet & Spicy tea to drink (S)
L -  High Protein Mediterranean Salad with strawberries on the side with Cider Pop to drink (E) ***This will feed my whole family and leave enough leftover for me to have for lunch for two days. I don't have flax oil so I'm using all olive oil.
S - Peanut Butter Whip with water to drink (S)
D - Pizza Casserole with fresh veggies on the side with Orange Honest Fizz to drink (S) pg. 327 in the old THM book

Saturday:
B - Raspberry Smoothie with one scrambled egg (S)
L - leftover High Protein Mediterranean Salad with water to drink (E)
S - celery with peanut butter with Cider Pop to drink (S)
D - out

Sunday:
B - Peanut Butter Cup Shake (S)
L - leftover High Protein Mediterranean Salad with Cider Pop to drink (E)
S - 0% Plain Greek Yogurt mixed with 1 t. THM Super Sweet Blend, an apple and cinnamon with water to drink (E) 
D - "Spanish Rice" Quinoa with black beans on the side served on top of lettuce with water to drink (E)

Here's what we'll be eating this week:

Monday:
B - 0% Greek Yogurt sweetened to taste with THM Super Sweet Blend & 2 T. of peanut butter mixed in with water to drink (S)
L - Loaded Fotato Soup with water to drink (S) pg. 117 in the NEW THM cookbook
Cottage Berry Whip with water to drink (FP) *Making a double batch and putting half in the freezer to have a serving for snack tomorrow.
D - Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and a side salad with Ranch with water to drink (S) **I made zucchini noodles in place of regular noodles. 1 1/2 medium zucchini is the perfect amount for me. The rest of my family ate whole wheat noodles. You can use store bought sauce, just make sure it has NO added sugar. 

Tuesday:
B - Peanut Butter Milkshake (S)
L - Waldorf Cottage Cheese Salad with water to drink (E) pg. 190 in the NEW THM cookbook or pg. 300 in the OLD THM book
S - leftover Cottage Berry Whip with water to drink (FP)
D - Zesty Salsa Chicken & Black Bean Casserole and steamed broccoli with Cider Pop to drink (E)

Wednesday:
B - Lemon Fat Stripping Frappa (FP) pg. 419 in the NEW THM cookbook
L - Just Like Campbell's Tomato Soup with Cider Pop to drink (S) pg. 112 in the NEW THM cookbook
S - leftover Fat Stripping Frappa from breakfast (FP)
D - Awana Awards dinner (trying for an S, if I can't do that, then I will grab a salad at home afterwards)

Thursday:
B - 0% Plain Greek Yogurt mixed with THM Super Sweet Blend an apple and cinnamon to taste with water to drink (E)
L - Very Berry Salad with Dijon Balsamic Vinaigrette with Cider Pop to drink (S) ***This is enough to make four lunches
S - 1 oz. cheddar cheese and small handful of almonds with water to drink (S)
D - Crock Pot Barbacoa Beef served over Romaine lettuce with a dollop of sour cream with Cider Pop to drink (S)

Friday:
B - (2) eggs scrambled and cooked in coconut oil with strawberries on the side with Sweet & Spicy Tea to drink (S)
L - leftover Very Berry Salad with Dijon Balsamic Vinaigrette with Cider Pop to drink (S)
S - Reese Peanut Butter Cup Shake (S)
D - Pizza Casserole in the crock pot with fresh veggies on the side and Professor Fizz Honest Fizz pop to drink (S) ***pg. 327 in the OLD THM book

Saturday:
